There are many communities and many groups of individuals who don’t really feel like contemporary capitalism is serving them well. If I said, “I’m going to have a block grant for communities. After all, congestion pricing has been introduced in a number of cities, from Singapore to Stockholm, over the past 25-odd years. Consumer spending plays a crucial role in driving economic growth in the United States, and it has shown remarkable strength over the past two years. “A continuing strong labor market could help consumers maintain spending patterns similar to those observed recently, even without pandemic-era savings,” they wrote. Hiring activity was stronger than expected in the US private sector last month, according to payroll processor ADP’s latest employment estimates. Employers added 192,000 jobs in April, down from March's job gains, (which were upwardly revised by 24,000 to 208,000 jobs) according to ADP’s national employment report released Wednesday. However, economists were anticipating a net gain of 175,000 jobs, according to FactSet consensus estimates. While job growth has accelerated to start the year, wage gains are showing a continued moderation, according to the report. CNN —After years of delays and a dizzying array of setbacks during test flights, Boeing’s Starliner spacecraft is finally set to make its inaugural crewed launch. “This is history in the making,” NASA Administrator Bill Nelson said of the upcoming Starliner mission during a March 22 news conference. Missteps riddled a Starliner test flight the prior year, leaving NASA and Boeing officials scrambling to figure out what went wrong. SpaceX’s Crew Dragon has been flying routine trips ever since, carrying NASA astronauts and even paying customers and tourists. On May’s inaugural crewed flight, Boeing will instead use a “perfectly acceptable mitigation” that should prevent the valves from sticking, Nappi said in March.

Each year, thousands of baby green sea turtles clamber across a beautiful, white-sand paradise that is one of the largest hatching sites of this species in the Atlantic, adorably making their way to the sea. The spectacular hatching events take place between August and December on Poilão Island, a tiny, uninhabited speck off the coast of Guinea-Bissau in West Africa. It is the southernmost island of the 88 that make up the Bijagós archipelago, a UNESCO biosphere reserve. Last year, turtles laid more than 44,000 nests on its 1.4 mile-long beach. “We want to increase the tourists who go to the Bijagós,” he said.
